An associate degree in Criminal Justice can qualify you for many vital careers in public safety, surveillance, corrections, drug enforcement and more. Here are just a few of the rewarding careers you can pursue:

Airport Security Officer
Airport security officers provide frontline security and protection of air travelers, airports and airplanes. They are responsible for preventing dangerous or deadly objects from being transported onto aircraft via cargo, baggage or passengers. They use cutting-edge electronic detection and imaging equipment and may occasionally be privy to classified information.

Corrections Officer
Corrections officers are responsible for overseeing individuals who have been arrested and are awaiting trial or who have been convicted of a crime and sentenced to serve time in a jail, reformatory or penitentiary. They maintain security and inmate accountability to prevent disturbances, assaults or escapes, but they have no law enforcement responsibilities outside the institution where they work.

Security Officer
Security officers and guards patrol property to protect against fire, theft, vandalism and illegal activity. Their job is to protect their employer's investment, enforce laws on the property and deter criminal activity. They may also interview witnesses or victims, prepare case reports, testify in court, monitor alarms and closed-circuit TV cameras, detain or arrest criminal violators and issue traffic violation warnings.
